Before & After: Dressing Room

I call this room my "dressing room/closet." We have a three bedroom house, one bedroom is ours and one bedroom is the guest room. So lucky me got to have one whole room for a closet!
I went out of town for work for a few days and when I came back my husband had completely cleaned it up and decorated it for me!

This is what it looked like before:

Weekend Thus Far

I bought these on a whim Friday night before going to the movies. They are so good!! I'm sure they are just around for the holidays so I'll have to stock up. On sale for $2.33 at Target, go try them!
Has anyone seen "How Do You Know?"
I went Friday night with a friend and we both thought it was going to be amazing...but we were wrong. Reese Witherspoon was adorable and all of the acting was great from everyone, but the story was just dragging on and on. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but let me know what you all thought!

Saturday we spent the day Christmas shopping with my mother - in - law and nephew. I am almost done except for my dad and grandma. I feel bad that I get my dad the same thing every year...a UK shirt and some book about history. I'm going to try and get him something different this year. He recently turned my old bedroom into his office so I'm thinking something for his desk?

Saturday night we went to an Ugly Christmas Sweater party. Surprisingly I think this is my first one. Joey went to one last year but I think I couldn't go for some reason. Here are some pictures...don't you all love my Ugly OUTFIT? Haha I found this at the Salvation Army. The sad thing was that someone had obviously worn this multiple times because you could tell it had been washed a lot!
Tonight I'm heading to Pazzo's to have dinner with a friend who is in from Nebraska.
Happy Sunday!

Before & After: Dining Room

I wanted to begin sharing with you all a few "before and after" pictures from around our home. To start off...the dining room. When we moved in the dining room was baby blue painted over about 3 layers of wallpaper.

It took 4 of us about 3 days to scrape off the wallpaper to start over fresh. You know you have good friends when they do this for fun on a Saturday night!! ;)

And the finished product:

It was a very bold color choice, but fun for us right now.
What do you all think?

I think my favorite is Kendall's outfit with the green fur.

Snow Day and MKA

SNOW DAY! Lexington is covered in snow. I travel to surrounding counties for my job and all of the schools systems are shut down for snow. Looks like I'll have an office day tomorrow!

In other news:
found via:
This is the look I am rocking lately. I need my roots touched up badly, but seeing this picture of MK & A made me not feel so bad about it!

And just because being snowed in all day makes you a little stir crazy:
Anyone else rather be at the beach?
Fish face. Ok I officially have cabin fever.

Hope everyone has a happy Monday!

Peddlers Mall Update

Here are some pictures of our Peddlers Mall booth. It is a work in progress. Good news! We have only had the booth open for 5 days and have already sold $60! Pretty excited about that!
We are still trying to figure out the wall situation. We got there today and someone had rented the booth behind ours and put up a wall, but we would like to have our own so we can paint!

What do you all think?Any suggestions on how to make it look more buyer friendly?

Tara and Jessica Take Memphis

My friend Tara and I spent the weekend in Memphis. We went because she was running in the Memphis Marathon for St. Jude. 26.2 miles, wow!!
Being in Memphis, we had to go see Graceland. I have a small obsession with Elvis or actually more Priscilla. If anyone is interested I would recommend reading this:

Across the street from Graceland.
Outside his jet, the Lisa Marie.
Tara with the Pink Corvette.
Tara and I in front of Graceland.
In front of the living room.
Dining room.
Upstairs. They won't let anyone go upstairs out of respect.
The kitchen. This is my favorite room because I know how much
people like to hang out in the kitchen!
Jungle room.
Jungle room again.
Pool room.
In the basement. Elvis had 3 televisions so he could watch 3 news channels at one time.
Wedding clothes.
Gold suit!

I didn't get any pictures of Tara crossing the finish line in the marathon because I made a video instead. But she did a great job!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Excited to announce...

Joey and I decided to rent out a Peddler's Mall booth
and it opens

Does anyone else have a Peddler's Mall in their town? I know a lot of the surrounding towns here do but I'm not sure if its all over. Peddler's Mall is basically just a flea market and you can rent a booth and sell whatever you want. Joey and I went recently and rented one out.
Its just a month to month thing so we aren't tied to it. We just went through our garage and had 165 items to sell and if they sell for what we priced them for we would make over $500!
We plan on selling mainly things for the home. We like to find things and fix them up. Also I think if we can just display something in a different way people will see different uses for
everyday things. We have been working on making price tags and are going to go there tomorrow when we get off work to put everything together.

We bought this stamp pad when we were in Brown County.

Working on making our price tags.

Finished product. Cute, right?

If anyone lives in Lexington come out to the Peddlers Mall Booth #391!

Gender Neutral Gift Idea

For our office Christmas party we have to bring a gender neutral gift for "Dirty Santa."
I thought I'd share what I am bringing!
A head massager! Have you all ever used one of these? They feel amazing and are a fun non-expensive gift for anyone. $9.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond!

What are you all bringing to your holiday parties?

Everybody's Free

To wear sunscreen.

Ok, I'm letting out my cheesy side here, but I love a good quote!
I'm sure you all remember this, but I just came across it again and wanted to share:

Wear sunscreen.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists,
whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering experience.
I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall
in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you,
and how fabulous you really looked.
You're not as fat as you

Don't worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind;
the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you.

Don't be reckless with other people's hearts, don't put up with
people who are reckless with yours.

Don't waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you're ahead, sometimes
you're behind the race is long, and in the end, it's only with

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults;
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life
the most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives,
some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don't.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you'll miss them when they're gone.

Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't, maybe you'll have children, maybe
You won't, maybe you'll divorce at 40, maybe you'll dance the funky
Chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. What ever you do, don't
Congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either. Your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else's.

Enjoy your body, use it every way you can.
Don't be afraid of it, or what other people think of it,
it's the greatest instrument you'll ever

Dance even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don't follow them.

Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Get to know your parents, you never know when they'll be gone for good.

Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you
should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
In Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Accept certain inalienable truths.
Prices will rise, politicians will philander,
you too will get old, and when you do you'll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
Maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out.

Don't mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
It's worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen.

Thanksgiving Trip

My mom's side of the family decided to take a trip this year for Thanksgiving so we could all spend some quality time together. We went to Nashville, IN...or also referred to as Brown County, IN. It is a little artist and craft town kind of like Gatlinburg, TN. Joey and I have our own condo, my parents are sharing a condo with my sister and Grandma and my aunt and uncle have a condo with their kids. Out of the three ours was the cutest. At places like this you have to decorate with woodsy, cabin-esque decor and it is so cozy! I love our fireplace. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the shops but here are some pictures of our condo.

"Together is the best place to be"

My husband, my sister and me...they didn't want to take pictures.
Now they are smiling!

If anyone is interested in traveling to Brown County, we stayed here.
