4 months with Major

This month we're starting to see more and more of Major's personality.  He is the happiest baby.  We thought Shepherd was easy, but Major is way easier!  He is really not chunky by any means, he is still a perfectly proportioned 25% percentile baby.  But to us, we were used to Shepherd who did not have a roll or inch of fat on him...so Major seems like a little chubby chunker to us and we love it!  He is starting to roll and scoot around.  He has the biggest, happiest grin and loves attention.  We took him to the zoo and he was so laid back...even though I didn't change his diaper for about 5 hours...I'm awful I know.  When he wakes up in the morning, he never cries.  He kind of whines and I'll give him his paci and he'll drift back to sleep, then whine again to get up.
He has started laughing, he likes being tickled...it is the sweetest little belly laugh.  He sounds like he is surprised that sound is coming out of him.
He loves warm baths.  He smiles the entire time, my cheeks hurt from smiling back at him.  He kicks in the water so much that slides down the bath and I have to readjust him every few minutes.
He is still obsessed with his big brother, and calms down when Shep is giving him attention.
We love our Major man!

random ramblings.

First things first.  If we're not talking about Kimye's wedding, don't talk to me ;)
Just kidding.  I may or may not have followed all potential guests on Instagram so I don't miss a picture.  I may or may not have added Paris and Florence to my weather app.
I may or may not have spent nap time doing this:

Do you hear me E News?!  Hire me! ;)

ANYWAY. Moving on...

So I have no idea anything about blogs.  I want mine to look nice and clean and crisp...so I've been messing around with it a little, but I have no idea what I'm doing.  Up on the top left there is some weird image that I have no clue how to make it go away and it has been driving me crazy for about 3 years.  I added some stuff at the bottom of the page, just because I couldn't figure out how to make it look nice at the top.  So if the blog looks a little off, its because I attempted to mess with it ;)

I made these for dinner recently and they were delicious.  Joey said he was adding it to his Top 3 favorite meals I make.  Not before he complained that I didn't have a side, RUDE, but I still like compliments on my cooking.  The best compliment I've had on my cooking is Joey told me if he was on Death Row he would like my mac and cheese as his last meal.

This weekend my husband has decided to "re-do" our deck.  The wood is weathered and splinter-y and  he found this paint that is made to restore wooden decks.  He claims it will be a nap time project and won't take that long.  We'll see.  I'll hopefully have some before and afters to share next week ;)

Happy Memorial Day weekend.  I'm on the hunt for Shepherd some American flag attire ;)

Everyday 2014

May 15:
Major faces.  His little personality is starting to shine through.
May 16:
Not the prettiest plate, but this was delicious!  I named it my #2 favorite meal I make.  And so easy to make!  2 hours in the crockpot.  "Healthy" crockpot zucchini ziti.
I got the recipe here.

May 17:

May 18:
After Major's baby dedication at church.  (Post coming soon.)
Later that day Joey had Christmas in May when my grandma brought him a ton of plants and he spent the day planting and working in the yard.

May 19:
Chubby bubby.
Happy Shep.
May 20:
I tried to take a picture of Major wearing one of Shepherd's hand me downs, and he insisted on being in the picture.
Same outfit, Shep (right) at 5 months and Major at almost 4.
Later that day we had some of Joey's family over to celebrate Jen's birthday and you can tell from this picture, Shep was a fan of the cupcakes.

May 21:
Shep loves the new slide he got for his birthday, but it has me completely on edge trying to keep him from breaking his neck.

zoo day.

Saturday we drove and met my family in Louisville to go to the zoo.
It was pretty chilly for May, but ended up being good weather for walking around all day.
I packed a picnic for everyone and we sat outside on the grass to eat before going inside.

The past week I've been really focusing on Shepherd's animal books and talking to him about the zoo and trying to ensure he would recognize when we saw the main attractions...the lions, the zebras, the giraffes...
Well, his favorite animal there was...the ducks.  The plain old ducks walking around the zoo grounds.  Next weekend I'll just take him down to Tates Creek and call it a vacation.
And when we got to the elephants and Joey held him up to see, he said..."grass."
I guess thats a toddler for you.

Dad and the Bald Eagles.  His favorite part.

Let me tell you something.  The zoo with kids is exhausting. We went in a little building where I guess they host schools and teach classes and I grabbed myself a seat ASAP.

Now a couple of random things:

How creepy is this face?  I made the mistake of laughing at it once and now this little ham stares at me with these eyes waiting for me to notice.  He makes me laugh every day.

This was a new wild animal exhibit.  Just kidding. Thats. my. hair.  Woof.  Joey said it looked like the rhino's tail :(

I mentioned earlier, the zoo with kids is exhausting.  Even with 5 adults, I still felt like I needed to do a head count over and over again.  I think it would be easy when there are so many adults, to assume someone has the kids and not worry about it, then realize everyone thought that and now we can't find Shepherd.  Oh my gosh, worst nightmare.  So I felt like I never really paid attention at the exhibits because I was too busy head counting.  However, I did watch one exhibit:
