Everyday 2015 :: 3

February 6:
Finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel...Major started to feel a little better!

February 7:
My mom was home with Major so we took Shep out to lunch at Culvers.

Gigi reading Shepherd a bed time story.  Mom had already planned on coming into town to babysit while we went out Saturday night, but when Major got sick she came up a few days earlier than planned.

Ready to head out to Joey's work party.

February 9:
Shepherd loves to help in the kitchen.  Making banana bread!

February 10:
Peas and rice and cheese and crackers!

Still not feeling 100%. But that means I get rare snuggles and sleepy babies on my chest.

February 11:
Shepherd has started getting really into building things.  This was either a robot or a castle, I can't remember.

We were listening to music after dinner and Major was dancing.

Then we played with all of our trucks at the table...boy mom!

February 12:
Shep picking up Major...Shepherd thought this was hilarious ;)

February 13:
He was in the best mood when I took this.

Gigi and Pappy sent them a Valentine's Day package and this was one of his gifts.  He insisted on taking it to the grocery with us.  Stocking up for the winter storm on its way!

Crazy man before bed.

One YEAR with my Major man.

Major loves to play hide and seek.  His favorite spot to hide is in his closet, and behind the curtains in the living room.  He thinks he is so funny!  When he hides in his closet he is so quiet and serious about it, then when I peek in he erupts into giggles.
Major is so quick to smile and has a kind of goofy personality.  He will just walk around laughing to himself.  He has such a sweet and easy disposition.
He started walking at about 11 1/2 months!  I love that he just goes for it!  He literally plows through everything in front of him.  We call him a bulldozer.  He's very brave ;)
Major got sick for the first real time this month.  A pretty bad cold and cough that kept him up at night.
He still wakes up so much throughout the night, but I would say it averages about 2-3 times/night. (It's been worse because of him being sick, but on good days its still 2-3 times.)
He usually quickly nurses back to sleep.
I'm still surprised all the time by how different Major is from Shepherd.  Shep at his age wanted to nurse all the time.  Major really only nurses right before nap and bedtime, and then when he wakes up at night.  He's not a comfort nurser, and never has been.
That being said, he loves to eat!  He loves bananas, strawberries, avocado, applesauce, breakfast bars, scrambled eggs, cheese, ham, bread, crackers, peas, mandarin oranges, spaghetti...really anything we give him he is happy to gobble up.
He has two little teeth right in the front on the bottom.
He loves getting into everything he's not supposed to and he thinks its hilarious.  He will literally run to get to something if he thinks I'm not looking.  Or Shepherd's toys, if Shep is playing with something he won't let Major have, as soon as Shep walks away Major makes a beeline for it.
I love their relationship.  They are both a lot happier if the other one is with him.  The other day, Major woke up from his nap and Shepherd was sleeping, so Major went and sat outside his door with a book. Shep is always in a grumpy mood when he wakes up from a nap (so am I!) but if I send Major into the room first he starts laughing.  They already wrestle and chase each other.

We are so in love with this little boy!
Taken on Major's actual birthday.  That tongue...

So handsome :)

Some of my favorite pictures from Major's last month as a baby!

Major's first Christmas:

He loves his brother so much! He crawls all over him.

This particular time Major was climbing all over Shep, Shep just started patting Major and said, "I love you too, Maj."

Major started walking at about 11.5 months!

He thinks he's hilarious when he hides behind the curtains!

29

Last month I celebrated my 29th birthday.
I feel the current of change happening in our life.   I'm ready for something new.  I feel so conflicted writing this down.  I never want to seem ungrateful or like I'm complaining.  But if I'm being honest, which I think is always appreciated on social media, this past year has just been hard for me.  I'm happy but I'm tired.  Not tired like I need a nap...tired like I haven't had a minute in what feels like years.  I knew when I got pregnant with Major, ok this is going to be great in the long run, but hard in the beginning.  They are so close in age, both boys, they are going to have so much fun together.  But right now, its just a lot.  Two very demanding ages, toddler and baby turned toddler.  And I know it probably will always be like this.  But days where I don't sit down all day, weeks where I haven't had any time to myself or really even left the house.  Joey doesn't get home until nearly bedtime each night.  And I'm so thankful for his job, it has allowed me to stay home, which even with my current state, is all I've ever wanted, and I don't take it for granted.
But like I said, I can feel it changing.  I really believe God has great things in store for us, and I'm excited to see what is to come.
29 feels like a really good age.  I always thought by 30 I would kind of have a better grasp on things.  I don't know how to explain it.  Just a better understanding of myself, what I think, what I believe.
One of my very favorite mottos for life has always been "never consider yourself a finished product."
I want to always be learning and getting better.
Heres to my last year in my 20s!

Major's Winter ONEderland

UGHHhh I am the worst.  I didn't get any pictures of Major's 1st birthday party.  I would really like the be a put together, crafty Pinterest person, but I'm just not.  I try really hard sometimes, but its just not my true nature.  The thought of going all out for his party exhausted me, so it was much more simple than the energy I put into Shepherd's first birthday.
We had a Winter ONEderland theme, with 40 of our closest friends and family crammed in our house.  Little winter baby.

Also, it has not really snowed all winter, but the night before his party we got about 4 inches!  It was perfect because the roads were fine, but everything else was covered in white.

We started the day building a snowman!

Ready to party!  My cousin made his onesie!

Opening gifts

I didn't get any pictures of his smash cake.  It had snowflakes on it and just said Happy Birthday Major.

Goody bags my mom made for all the kids there!

Snowflake garland with a picture from every month.  Major is one of those kids who has always looked the same.  He looked the same at 4 months as he did at 12 months.  He's so funny.

And taken at approx 7:53...my baby is One :)
