Shepherd and Major's Life Verses

I mentioned that when we had Breaker's baby dedication at church, they had changed their process and made it more involved.  Which is right up my alley.  We were asked to choose a verse for Breaker that we would pray over him.  They suggested it be something he could come back to and be kind of his "life verse."

For Breaker we chose Romans 12:12:

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer."

I hope over his life he will lean on this verse and let it ground him.

Since we never did this for Major or Shepherd, I decided its never too late!

For Shepherd, Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT).

"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace."

For Major, Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV).

"Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint."

My verse for my life, that I've always leaned on for as long as I've been a Christian is Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."

Driving through the desert

A long time ago I took a screenshot of a picture I saw on Instagram. I added a drive like this to my bucket list and on our drive home from the Grand Canyon I got to check it off!  (Can you tell I take Bucket Lists very seriously? If you tell me something is on your bucket list, I will be all about helping you make it happen.)

I loved this day so much.
Isn't that view incredible?! We are not used to anything like that in Kentucky.  No one else on the road and nothing but God's earth as far as the eye can see.

We stopped at a Native American shop. All of their things were beautiful.

How cute was this elementary school we drove past:

My instagram screenshot that inspired this post on top, my picture on the bottom.

Bucket List: Check!

(If you're wondering, the inspiration Instagram was from @joybeezy)

One more thing. I had it on my bucket list that I wanted to see the wild mustangs of Utah. Well. If I really wanted to do that I would have had to hiked to the middle of nowhere and camped and that just isn't up my alley. We saw these horses on our drive, so I decided this would do ;)

This was such a good day :)

Our weekend

This weekend we went to my parents house to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. I didn't take very many pictures, but I'll share what I've got!

First, my mom and I went shopping at some local boutiques since it was Small Business Saturday.

My dad hiding so he could jump out and scare Major. We all think scaring our children is way too funny! ;)

Annual walk around Legion Park to look at Christmas lights.

Grandma feeding Breaker sweet potatoes.

Rocking my baby to sleep.

That was our weekend!

Christmas will be here before we know it.  This is one of those years when there is no time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  With Christmas day falling on a Sunday this year, there are only 3 free weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do not feel prepared!

Thanksgiving 2016

This year, we hosted Thanksgiving at our house.  It was the first time a lot of our family had seen the new house.  It may not have any furniture and there may be tape on the floor from painting and there was no cute tablescape like I would have liked...but it worked! It was really good to have everyone together, especially being the first big holiday without Rhonda.  I know she was on all of our minds all throughout the day.

It was also this turkey's first Thanksgiving!

What an angel.

Some pictures from our day:

Kids table! Major and Reece. (Shep would only eat cashews all day. *Eye Roll*)

Grown up table:

Some hot tub time after lunch.

Group picture. So thankful for this family I married into.

If you zoom in it *looks* like I'm giving the middle finger :(

As good as it gets trying to get four cousins to smile with Papaw.

Bright eyes!!

I decided to start a new tradition this year. I put together a scrapbook and each year I'm going to get a group picture and then have everyone write what they are thankful for. Won't that be a nice heirloom and tradition! I love stuff like this. I went ahead and put the whole thing together so each year all I have to do is remove a page for people to write on and print out a picture.

One more because he's so cute:

Happy Thanksgiving!

The difference between moms and dads

This is literally our kitchen right now. The dishwasher didn't work when we moved in and we bought a new one. Instead of having Lowes deliver and install it, Joey said he could do it and proceeded to have me help him carry it in at 10:30 one night, in 27 degree temps, while I was wearing my robe. Then he stayed up until midnight installing it and when we turned it on, water started leaking out of the sink. So, now my kitchen looks like this with a sink full of dirty dishes I can't get to and more piling up.

Last night I was rocking Breaker to sleep and it was taking forever. After nearly 30 minutes, he was *almost* asleep. So close.
I get a text from Joey.

"Come here."

I immediately picture broken bones and blood. Which boy is hurt? Which of us will have to go to the ER and which of us will stay home? I jump up and put Breaker in his crib, waking him up and he starts screaming. I rush to the living room where Joey is standing looking at his phone and Shepherd and Major are watching a show.

"What's wrong!?"
"I got the dishwasher to work."

The Grand Canyon

While living in Utah, we went to The Grand Canyon.
It was amazing!  Its been on my bucket list forever, so I was thrilled.  I already want to go back. (Maybe without kids...worrying about a two year old throwing himself off a cliff is a tiny bit stressful.)
The timing worked out perfectly for my friend Tara to go with us.  I seriously don't know if we would have made it without her, because we were genuinely terrified of one of our kids falling in!

After Joey got off work on Friday we headed down to Arizona.
Side note: I obviously know a lot about our country (sarcasm) because I had no idea that there really is not a whole lot going on on this side of the country!  Utah has Salt Lake which is more Northern Utah and then there is St. George in Southern Utah and theres literally nothing inbetween.  I mean, I knew it was desert but I guess I never realized!  I always thought it was weird how on the news here they always give the weather for the "Wasatch Front" and then the weather for St. George.  I always thought "why do we care about the weather all the way down there?" But its because thats about all there is in the whole state.

We were staying at The Grand Canyon Hotel, and we got there late into the night and went right to sleep.  The next morning we got up early because we were riding the Grand Canyon Railway train to the Canyon! I was so excited for the boys to get to do this.  Is there a cooler train in the world than the Grand Canyon train?  If there is, I need to know.

Side note: If we ever go back, I want to stay IN the park. But for this, staying at the hotel and getting to ride the train was perfect.

Early morning, ready to board the train!

My two little conductors:

Getting their tickets stamped!

There was a photographer on board who went around taking group pictures. (Joey cheated the system by taking a picture of our picture, then not actually buying it ;)

Shep was SO EXCITED.

We made it!

Nursing at the Grand Canyon!

Bucket List!

My best friend since we were 10 :)

Major picked me a flower :)

I loved this was the gift shop.

Back on the train to go to the hotel.

It was so cute...on the way back they had this little skit for the kids. The conductor makes an announcement that there are bandits stopping the train, then the bandits get on, followed by the Sheriff who asks which way they went.

Major loved it.

Breaker taking a nap with Tara.

Back at the hotel. These boys were worn out!

Such a great day! Bucket List days are my favorite.
