Our Prayer for Breaker

Today we had Breaker's dedication day at church. This is always such a special day. They've changed how they do it since Shepherd and Major's dedications. This year they asked us to ahead of time choose a Bible verse for Breaker, and to write out a prayer for him. Now this is RIGHT up our alley. If you haven't noticed, we are a bit wordy and emotional people.
We chose our verse and wrote our prayer and brought copies for all of our family who were with us. Then during the service we had time to pray and we all got in a circle, and as I held my precious Breaker, his daddy prayed our prayer over him while all of our family listened and prayed, too.

Our Prayer for Breaker Blue Lawhorn

Dear Lord,
Thank you for our precious Breaker Blue.  He is so joyful and easy going, so fun to be around and he brings happiness everywhere he goes.

We pray that the words we say today will layer him with protection all the days of his life.

Our biggest prayer for Breaker Blue is that he will know You, love You, and accept You into his heart at a young age.  We want him to spend his life LIVING, and not searching for something that only YOU can provide.

We pray for his health.  Let him grow big and strong.  Protect his body, mind and spirit.

We pray he will live his life in a way that is pleasing to You, God.  Help him to make good choices.  Give him wisdom and a conscience.

We know how important it is to surround yourself with the right people.  You become like the people you are around the most.  Let Breaker find good, good people, and develop life long friendships.  Friends who love Jesus and who will lift him higher.
We pray for Breaker's future wife.  Somewhere there is a little girl, who will change our son's life.  Let her have parents who love her and set a good example for marriage. Give her a good, good life.

We pray that Breaker finds things in life to be passionate about.  We commit to always supporting whatever he is excited about.  We pray he will one day be able to make a living doing something he absolutely loves.

We pray Breaker puts his trust and hope in the Lord.  Let him know that prayer changes things.  When you pray, something is happening, whether you can see it or not.

Be with us, his parents, to love and discipline and parent Breaker in the way he needs and responds to.  We pray that Breaker knows who he is, and is unapologetically that person.

Let him grow up, and go out into the world, and change it for the better.

We pray Romans 12:12 over Breaker.  May he always,
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer."

In Your Son, Jesus name,

P.S. Major's baby dedication
I guess I didn't blog about Shepherd's?
